After TikTok surged in popularity, Instagram released its new TikTok-like feature, Reels. It stands out as a feature that looks just like TikTok, consisting of the same type of videos and songs. Reels allows creating short and funny video clips on the Instagram platform. We’ll compare TikTok and Instagram Reels and tell you a few things about how you can use them for your brand.
What are Instagram Reels?
The feature that allows you to create videos of up to 30 seconds on Instagram and share them with music is the Reels feature. Reels allowed 15-second videos when it was released, but now up to half a minute of video can be shared. Developed since its launch, Reels allows users to create videos in an easier and more fun way. In addition to the existing features, features such as adjustable speed, sharing videos by choosing from the song library or using the original soundtrack, using AR filters have been added.
Although Reels was initially defined as an imitation of TikTok, it began to be seen as an application on its own as time passed.
Comparison of Instagram Reels and TikTok
Although they are very similar, there are many differences between Instagram Reels and TikTok. Videos on TikTok can take up to 1 minute, while Reels videos can take up to 30 seconds.
Editing Reels videos is simpler than TikTok. But it also means that transitions and results in videos are not as compelling and creative as TikTok videos. TikTok, on the other hand, offers great editing options. However, making video edits on TikTok can be a bit overwhelming. The resulting videos are quite creative and interesting.
TikTok offers video editor that adds special sounds and effects to your videos. To create a video, you will be able to see the new interface where you can record video by clicking the + icon in the corner of the screen. The speed option is where you can choose how fast or slow your video should be. Beauty option removes shadows from your video and improves video quality. Filters provides various filters in categories like Vibe, Portrait, and Life. The timer option lets you record your videos hands-free.
You can record videos with the red record button at the bottom of the screen. On the right is the upload icon. You can use that button to upload videos from your phone gallery to TikTok.
